To train the students to face the global challenges in herbal drug research and make Them reach out to newer technology with innovative techniques
To expose students to the practice environments where the knowledge and skills of their training are in use with the expectation of broadening their outlook and enriching their experience.
The strength of the department lies in its modern labs, sophisticated instruments and high quality research output. The department offers extensive training in all aspects of natural products including latest developments in the scientific field. Pharmacognosy is the study of drugs isolated from natural sources, including plants, microbes, animal tissues, and minerals. Pharmacognosy is closely related to botany and plant chemistry and, indeed, both originated from the earlier scientific studies on medicinal plants. As late as the beginning of the 20th century, the subject had developed mainly on the botanical side, being concerned with the description and identification of drugs, both in the whole state andin powder, and with their history, commerce, collection, preparation and storage.
After Successful Completion of B.Pharm Students will be able to know-
focusing on identification of drugs, including the isolation of active principles, and more recently, the investigation of biological activity. Research into ethnobotany, ethnomedicine, and ethnopharmacology has also become an important element in Pharmacognosy.
